With proper care, your EmergencyBud candle will last for many years. The following tips and information will help make sure your EmergencyBud is ready to go when it's needed.
-
Avoid Direct Sunlight
EmergencyBud Mini candles are double-shrink wrapped: once to help hold in melted (liquefied) wax in case your EmergencyBud is left sitting in direct sunlight while on its side, and again to hold on the lid. However, it is still possible for your EmergencyBud Mini to leak if it is stored upside down, or on its side, in prolonged temperatures near or above 145° F. To insure this doesn't occur, store your EmergencyBud candle in a glove box, center console, drawer, backpack, etc.
Important: It is possible for the candle to become unusable if exposed to high temperatures (145° F)for a long period of time. If this is the case when you open your EmergencyBud for emergency use, the wax is still usable. Break out the contents (fingernail clipper, etc) with a key or other such object, use the fingernail file to drill a small hole into the center of the wax, cut a small portion of the extra wick and fit it into the new hole. Next, secure the new wick with additional wax, then light. Your EmergencyBud is now like a normal, straight-wick candle.
-
Store Upright
Whenever possible, store your EmergencyBud in the upright position. Avoid storing it on its side or top. This is one extra precaution against a deformed candle.
-
Avoid Stacking Objects on Top
Your EmergencyBud is packaged to make it exceptionally easy to open when needed. This is accomplished by not pushing the top of the tin all the way on to the tin before it is shrink wrapped the second time (see image). Stacking objects on top of an EmergencyBud candle may push the top further on to the tin. This is fine and if you follow the above care instructions should never make a difference. Not following these care tips may make the tin more difficult to open in the cold.
-
Other Contents are Always Protected
The fingernail clippers, matches, directions, etc. are all stored in a small plastic bag inside the container/tin. Thus, even if your candle does become partially liquefied, these important parts of your EmergencyBud will be protected.
-
Cracks are Normal
When subjected to extreme temperature differences, solid wax may crack. This is entirely normal and your EmergencyBud Mini will work normally. Remember, it's an emergency situation, not a beauty contest.
-
Never Use as a Decorative Candle
EmergencyBud candles are not meant to be used like normal candles. Because they require more attention than most candles, they are for emergency use only and should only be used for this purpose.
