Zip-Lock baggies are useful in the following ways:

• The hand/body/toe warmers are activated by oxygen in the air. Once opened, they will continue to produce heat for the time specified on the package. However, you can prolong the use of the warmers by storing them in plastic baggies while they are not in use.
• If snow is available, place the frozen snow in a baggie then put it inside your car or coat. As your body produces heat, it will melt the snow giving you drinking water.
• Help keep the matches dry, or your other important items like a wallet, should the need arise.
